Begging for more missionaries -- EMS News PDF Print E-mail

A recent report from the North East Region and Taraba State revealed how much work still remains in reaching remote areas. Apart from Gombe which is pretty well covered, only 31 out of 81 local governments have any EMS staff in them. Pray especially for the Bandawa, Mumuye, and Jirim people groups. The present EMS staff in Taraba State want more missionaries so badly that they have offered to pay N500 each from their own monthly allowances toward the allowances of new missionaries. There is an HQ Chapel/EMS outreach this weekend in Pelu, Bauchi State. I (Bill Foute) will be taking part in that and be out of the office Friday afternoon.

EMS reports that allowances continue to be paid on time Smile. New support figures begin January, 2008. N15,000 is the new support figure.

EMS Family The EMS Sudan project is currently waiting to send our missionaries back to Ethiopia. There have been some issues including visas, health, and travel. The project has much potential, however, and we are looking forward to continuing it soon.

An EMS missionary family on their stationThe main task of EMS is to recruit and send out missionaries to the unreached for the purpose of bringing them to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is with the aim of fulfilling the Great Commission as in Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8.

At the moment, more than 1,200 missionaries are working in Nigeria, Benin Republic, Cameroun, Chad, Ghana, Niger Republic and Togo. Some of the main aims of EMS are

  • cross-cultural evangelism
  • church planting among the unreached
  • discipling and training members to reproduce other disciples

EMS works in partnership and cooperation with other evangelical groups in receiving and sending out missionaries, as well as in research and training.
